Parts Sales Representative
We are a small, vibrant and growing business providing service, parts and restoration for classic Mercedes-Benz automobiles to customers around the world. We are one of a small number of firms in the world with the tools and experience necessary to perform full, factory-specified service on these important vehicles, and we offer a wider range of new and used parts for these cars than any other company in the world. We are located 18 miles south of Madison, Wisconsin, in the village of Brooklyn.
We are looking for the right person to fill a vacancy in our parts department. This is a full-time hourly position. If you are the right person for this job, you will be a well- organized and responsible individual who enjoys customer service, research, and problem solving in a small group environment, and you will be precise and proficient in both spoken and written English. You will possess an excellent telephone manner and a willingness to learn the technical vocabulary necessary to communicate precisely and effectively in our field. You will be punctual, dependable, flexible and polite, and you will be happy to take instruction and accept constructive criticism. Most importantly, you will take pleasure in learning; this is a job which must be learned by doing, and every day will pose different challenges and opportunities.
If you are the right applicant for this position, you will be capable of performing diverse tasks under a deadline, to meet the needs of our service department and our customers around the world. You will be comfortable conducting research using both printed and online sources, making regular calls to vendors to check pricing and availability of parts, and placing orders both by telephone and online. You will possess the patience, skill and followthrough necessary to maintain and cultivate long-term customer relationships, represent our firm with professionalism, and maintain a good “bedside manner”.
Any interest in classic automobiles you possess will be cultivated and rewarded, as we are one of the few firms in the world trusted to work on the most important of post-war Mercedes-Benz models. A working knowledge of automotive terminology and function would be to your advantage but is not critical provided you are committed to rapidly acquiring the necessary knowledge. We will be happy to train the right person.
A normal working knowledge of computer operating systems and applications will be expected of all applicants. Job duties will include research, communication, sales, and purchasing via email, Web browser, and bookkeeping and database applications. We have an in-house IT staffer who can provide instruction in all of these areas.
It should be stressed that this is not a cubicle job. This is a hands-on position and includes occasional work in a non-climate controlled warehouse environment. The right applicant will be comfortable in a non-traditional workplace where everyone shares the responsibility for both successes and setbacks, and where all employees are in regular contact with one another.
We are a progressive and welcoming employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race or ethnicity, marital or family status, or sexual orientation. Women, minorities and members of other protected classes are strongly encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in English is necessary, and fluency in a second language would be to your advantage. The major languages spoken by our customers and vendors include German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Vietnamese and French.
